Tel Aviv feels like Louisville compared to Mexico City. Where are all of the coughing trucks? Overpopulation? Gigantic potholes and riots? Oozy pools of taco grease? Sulfuric clouds? Color? Obesity? Ancient market yelling? Cleansing Aztec dancers, tinted-window escalades, hair-gelled godínes and fumbly clown-women in stilettos? Can a city really be this smell-free? Why aren't there food wrappers everywhere?
All I see are well-groomed bike lanes, taupe, espresso, athletic youth and European cars.
